Ottoman Beige

The drawing of Ottoman Beige comes from its grain. In place of veining it carries small pale clasts and darker beige fragments spread across the whole slab. The distribution is even, so the pattern has no beginning, no direction and no repeat anywhere in it. Distance changes it completely. Up close the surface is full of detail, hundreds of small events each visible on its own. From across a room they resolve into a single warm cream, with just enough grain to keep a long corridor from going blank. That evenness carries into the small formats, which makes it a whole-building stone. A mosaic, a stair riser and a full slab read as the same material at every scale, so floor, threshold and wall come out of one decision.
