Rosso Levanto

Rosso Levanto

Rosso Levanto is the deepest red we carry, a burgundy marble breccia in which a dark wine ground is broken by a network of bright white calcite veins, with dark green surfacing between them here and there. The white is what makes the red legible. It comes from the Elazığ region, where it is called Elazığ Kiraz Mermeri, the cherry marble. The name it travels under is Italian, and most of the Rosso Levanto in the world is Turkish stone. It carries a long decorative tradition and is still used the same way: fireplace surrounds, column cladding, feature walls, tabletops, inlay. Against pale stone, plaster or oak the burgundy carries weight. Its green counterpart from the same region is listed as Verde Levanto.
